What have I done And what does the future hold?
I have worked with many clients in the past. This includes graduations, restaurants, communions, confirmations, live music, social events, headshots and portrait work. When I get free time, I enjoy going to different landscapes and shooting seascapes. I also enjoy exploring cities to capture their vibrant nature.
I recently became the owner of a DJI Mavic Air Drone. I hope to use this in real estate photography. This reasoning is why interior architecture will become of much more importance to me in the coming months. In July 2019 I will be photographing my first wedding. It is an experience I am looking forward too greatly. The plan is that these two will become my main focus in the future.
How Did My Love Of Photography Begin?
When I was 15, I was offered the chance to take part in the Gaisce award. In short to achieve the award I did a certain amount of hours community service, a sport and finally something creative. I decided on photography because I thought it was easier than other art forms such as drawing and art. I mean all you need to do to take good photos is “point and shoot”, right?
I soon learned about shutter speeds, golden hours, filters and so much more. I soon realised this was not the case. Photography quickly replaced other interests to become my main hobby. I soon got my first DLSR a Canon 1100D. At first, all I was interested in was photographing were landscapes, but with time I moved towards more cityscapes and travel photography. But since 2017 by focus has moved towards people and interior architecture.
Why others have chosen me to be their photographer
First of all, I value my clients time. I have a record on not just providing work on time but often ahead of schedule. Please some testimonials on my website here https://www.flashfocus.org/testimonials
An example: "Diarmuid was the photographer for the 2018 Commerce Final Year Dinner catering to over 150 students and members of the academic faculty. We were delighted to go with Diarmuid having seen some of his portfolios, and he was able to take the event at short notice, at an extremely competitive rate. His work was top quality and perfect for our event and was posted on Facebook within less than 24 hours, far ahead of schedule. We at the Commerce Society were delighted with Diarmuid's work and found him to be very professional to deal with and would be delighted to use his services in the future!"
- Patrick Fehily, University College Cork Commerce Society
I have, over the years, creating a diverse portfolio with an overall excellent standard of content. My collection contains photos from communions, confirmations, university graduations, live music, food, drone photography in July 2019. I will be doing my first wedding in Cork.
What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Without doubt, patience. While a photo often takes less than a second to shoot, it is about waiting for the right moment. This can depend on factors such as light or a change of facial expression.
What do you love most about your job?
The mission statement I always use to describe my work is "Capture the Moment" No matter the event, capturing a moment is very rewarding as a photographer. I love when I take a photo, and I know instantly "I got it". At that moment I look forward to showing people the picture. Wheater it is a joke, smile, kiss or a laugh, seeing people's joy seeing themselves or a loved one at that moment is what it is all about. A moment you hope will stay will them for a long time.
What inspired you to start your own business?
There is more of a connection with customers than when you are in a big company. I love talking to people, and it is a beautiful feeling to be involved with a product or service from beginning to end. It is a lot more personal and therefore, rewarding.
What Does Photography Mean To Me?
As a learner of three languages (English, German and Spanish) I understand the importance of communication. For me, photography is a language in itself. This feeling is best expressed by a French photographer, Bruno Barbey who described photography as follows. “Photography is the only language that can be understood anywhere in the world.” Photography gives me a way of expressing how I see the world. The good, bad, the ugly and everything in between. It is an opportunity to capture a moment of beauty, innocence, anger or appreciation.
If you have any further questions, feel free to get in touch with me. Whatever the matter may be. Speak soon and capture the moment.
